The Casino Floor
OPEN LATE, EVERY NIGHT OF THE YEAR
Push through the doors off the hotel atrium and the room opens out in front of you: low cedar beams, warm light, and three hundred and forty machines arranged so that you can still hear the person sitting next to you. The floor runs from ten in the morning until three the following morning, and later on Fridays and Saturdays when the Ember Lounge is busy.
There is no cover, no membership card and no minimum spend. Bring photo identification — the door team checks it every time, for everyone, and they will not make an exception because you happen to be staying upstairs.
First time in a casino? Say so at the desk. Somebody will walk the floor with you, explain what each table costs to sit at, point out where the cash machines and the washrooms are, and then leave you alone the moment you would rather be left alone.
Two minutes from any guest room, and no need to step outside in January.
Cash cage, ticket redemption and a staffed help desk on the floor at all opening hours.
Kitchen service to the tables until midnight; the Ember Lounge pours until the floor closes.

Ten tables, real dealers, nobody hurrying you
Blackjack opens at ten, roulette and baccarat at noon, three-card poker and Ultimate Texas Hold’em from four in the afternoon. Minimums start at five dollars on the weekday tables and climb through the evening. The high-limit salon behind the glass runs by arrangement — call ahead and we will hold you a seat.
Our dealers are the longest-serving people in this building. Several of them have stood at these tables since the room opened in 2004, and they will still tell you the best part of the job is the table that will not stop laughing.
The Poker Room
EIGHT TABLES BEHIND A DOOR THAT ACTUALLY CLOSES
The poker room sits off the main floor with its own bar, its own washrooms and a door that shuts out the noise of the slots. Eight tables run No-Limit Hold’em nightly from six, with Pot-Limit Omaha on Thursdays and a deep-stack tournament on the first Saturday of every month.
Seat lists are called at the desk rather than over the telephone, but if you want to know whether the room is running before you drive out, call the front desk and somebody will walk down and look for you.
No-Limit Hold’em at 1/2 and 2/5, nightly from six until the last table breaks.
Pot-Limit Omaha every Thursday, and a deep-stack tournament the first Saturday of the month.
Food from the Timberline kitchen, brought to the table, until midnight.

A room upstairs, dinner at Timberline and the floor two minutes from your door. Everything here is arranged on the telephone — one call gets you the room, the table and the seat, and you will be speaking to somebody standing in the building.

Winter Cedar has held a provincial gaming licence since 2003 and runs its casino under Alberta’s gaming legislation and the conditions set by the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission. Every machine on the floor is registered, every table game is dealt to approved rules, and our floor and cage procedures are audited on the schedule the licence requires.
Personal information collected on the gaming floor is handled under Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), SA 2003, c P-6.5 — the same 2003 statute described in our privacy policy — and is kept only for as long as that Act and our licence require.
You must be 18 or older to enter the casino floor. Photo identification is checked at the door.
Voluntary self-exclusion is available at the cage. Ask any member of the floor team; it is private and takes ten minutes.
